The "Burn" at the 2004 Waxahachie tournament. I'm the second girl standing from the right. Yeah. |
I dabbled in T-ball, but after realizing that T-ball makes one sweat behind their knees, how could I remain a lady and simultaneously continue sweating behind my knees? I had to quit.
I had a fairly extensive career playing basketball for the Shooting Stars in which I was honored to receive the title of MVP for the season (Ok, so it was one game, but I saw myself as MVP for every game).
My real athletic calling was to the sport of volleyball, in which I was one of the first of the Volley Chix to master my over hand serve. I went on to serve the Forest Meadow Junior High athletic department by playing on the "A" team in both 7th and 8th grade. I was proud to be a starter for the Chargers my 7th grade year, and may or may not have cried at my first game in 8th grade because I did not start, or play as much as I believed a player of my status should. So in 9th grade I cut all my personal ties from sports and stuck to dance. (It wasn't because of the not starting in volleyball in 8th grade...seriously)
All that is to say that I am not clueless or completely uninterested in the sports realm, as my mother would have you believe. And all of THAT is to say that I am a mavs fan. I love the Mavericks. They are the only professional sports team I have ever had much of an interest for. Last night, thanks to Mr. Travis Taunton, I got to go to the 5th game in the Dallas Mavs/Miami Heat series! It was their last game in Dallas before heading off to that dreadful Miami...and we WON!!!!!! Ihopewewintheseries.
I wore my blue mavericks pants.
Nothin but love,
Bethany
