ughhhh

Ok, look, I'm sorryyyyyyy. Once I spend enough time away from blogging, I get all bitter about coming back. I know it's irrational.

Anywho, let's play catch-up. There hasn't been too much going on here in Dallas. On Father's day, my dad jokingly told me that the only thing he wanted was to hear me play piano. {I took lessons for a few years when I was younger, but I had to quit because my piano teacher's arm hair was too long. It touched my arms when she played next to me. I actually think it touched me when she sat 3 feet from me, but I can't remember exactly.}

So I pulled out some of the level one stuff to see what I could do. Much to my surprise I could still read the music enough to stumble through. It was REALLY rough, of course, but I've had a lot of time on my hands so I decided to mess around with it.

While my parents were at a wedding one night and I had the house to myself I decided to teach myself a song or two. I needed something that I knew the tune, rhythm, and words to so that I could actually know if I was playing it right or not. The only thing we had in the sheet music department was the Lion King. So I learned "I just can't wait to be King" and "Can you feel the Love tonight?".

Feast your ears

Haha that is so bad. So, so bad. Lucky for you, I tend to have no pride when it comes to the things I post and share on this blog. If you weren't sure, that one was "I just can't wait to be king". I know, it's hard to tell.

Next order of business. I had gone back and forth on whether or not I would blog this,  but after posting a video of me playing the piano, I figure nothing's off limits. I have my second interview with Free People {my very favorite store} on Wednesday. If you're a praying person, I'd appreciate your prayers on Wednesday. Frankly, I was surprised to find out that I even got a first interview just because the store is fairly quaint and I have never seen more than 3-4 people working at a time...all of whom I usually recognize. So that makes me think that when they DO hire, they probably don't hire many. But I thought I'd try because there's no where else in the retail realm that I'd work.

Let me tell you...coming up with something "Free People Professional" to wear to the first interview was tough enough...doing that again will be a real trick. Haha I sent my sister a picture before I left to get her approval. Ready for a mirror pic?? Here it comes

Again....no pride. None.

If I get the job, I'll definitely share the good news....if not................well we'll see about that.

I think I'm gonna go work on "Be Prepared", another Lion King classic.

I've got nothin on my mind

I've had a bit of a writer's block for the past few days. Hence the 3 day gap between posts.....So today I decided to share one of my "treasury lists" from Etsy. I don't really understand what the point of them is, but all the cool kids do it, so why shouldn't I?

So a treasury list is basically a group of other people's items on etsy grouped together with a common theme. I think the only purpose it serves is to alert the crafter whose item you have selected so that they feel all warm inside knowing that someone else has taken a liking to their item. And then they give your things a pity look. Works for me

It's called "Whimsy Ballerina"

Happy anniversary!

Hi friends! I'm so excited to say that this day marks the one year anniversary of my bloggy :) It started out as a secret, as many blogs do. I started it because last summer I was all alone in Dallas. All my gal-pals were off counseling young kiddos at camps, and I wasn't taking my turn at it until the last half of summer. So my blog became one of my dearest friends.

Now you think I'm mental.

Anyway, I have been collecting balloon pictures all year in order to celebrate my baby blog's 1st birthday right! Only 5 made the cut. So without any further adieu (is that the right usage of that word?) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who reads this on a regular basis, an every now and then basis, or an accidental stumble upon basis....I'm thankful for you all. Can't wait to celebrate year number 2 :)

As promised...

So, this is lame....I didn't have a camera with me last night at the wedding so my mom had to take all the pictures I got. I probably would have taken more, and definitely would have tried to get one WITH the bride, but anywho....here they are :)

I posted these pictures on my facebook (duh), but since I feel silly posting this fun fact on my facebook, and also assume that bloggy people would be more interested, I saved it for this. The dress I wore is from a vintage store called Ahab and Bowen- it's from the 1960's :) I love old stuff.

It was so much fun celebrating a new marriage and it was a huge plus that the MAVERICKS WON THE FINALS!! There was a TV set up outside that my dad camped out at from beginning to end haha. I just love weddings.

When you love a person more than anyone else

When you love one person more than anyone else you know, you should marry them.

So scenario: Say a boy asks you to marry him. When he does, you freeze time and, before looking at the rock, you think to yourself..."Do I love him more than my best friend?....What about mom and dad...do I love him more than my mom and dad? My dog Moe (or whatever your dog is called) Do I love this boy more than my dog Moe?" If you are able to answer all of those questions with "yes" then you should un-freeze time and MARRY that boy!

I don't know if Whitley froze time and asked herself all of those questions, but I think she loves Ryan the most. More than anyone she knows. Today she's going to marry him! They are quite the ugly couple....

Like I said, very ugly people, the two of them. But I suppose, God has someone for all of us no matter how unfortunate looking we are.

Obviously I'm using extreme sarcasm, on account of Exhibit A and Exhibit B....and all other photographic exhibits these two are a part of, they are actually disgustingly attractive. And what's worse is that they are also wonderfully lovely people, so you can't even dislike them for being rude and a genetic combination made in heaven.

Whitley is my sister's sister in law (Whitley is Campbell's younger sister). She is one of the funniest people I know. I like to think that I am also part of the family that my sister married in to. And I also like her a lot more than other people because she bought a bundle of the headbands I made to wear on her honey moon. She claims to have bad beach hair.

So this evening, we will celebrate the marriage of Whitley and Ryan...pictures to come :)

We got to go to the Mavs game

It is a common misconception that I, Bethany Stutsman, dislike sports. Actually, I played soccer until 6th grade (whether or not I wore a ballet bun in my hair on account of coming to games straight from Nutcracker rehearsal is irrelevant).
The "Burn" at the 2004 Waxahachie tournament. I'm the second girl standing from the right. Yeah.

I dabbled in T-ball, but after realizing that T-ball makes one sweat behind their knees, how could I remain a lady and simultaneously continue sweating behind my knees? I had to quit.

I had a fairly extensive career playing basketball for the Shooting Stars in which I was honored to receive the title of MVP for the season (Ok, so it was one game, but I saw myself as MVP for every game).

My real athletic calling was to the sport of volleyball, in which I was one of the first of the Volley Chix to master my over hand serve. I went on to serve the Forest Meadow Junior High athletic department by playing on the "A" team in both 7th and 8th grade. I was proud to be a starter for the Chargers my 7th grade year, and may or may not have cried at my first game in 8th grade because I did not start, or play as much as I believed a player of my status should. So in 9th grade I cut all my personal ties from sports and stuck to dance. (It wasn't because of the not starting in volleyball in 8th grade...seriously)

All that is to say that I am not clueless or completely uninterested in the sports realm, as my mother would have you believe. And all of THAT is to say that I am a mavs fan. I love the Mavericks. They are the only professional sports team I have ever had much of an interest for. Last night, thanks to Mr. Travis Taunton, I got to go to the 5th game in the Dallas Mavs/Miami Heat series! It was their last game in Dallas before heading off to that dreadful Miami...and we WON!!!!!! Ihopewewintheseries.

I wore my blue mavericks pants.

On a mission to re-fashion

Since I've been home, I've been having a hayday with mine and my mother's sewing machines! Making all sorts of things, useful and useless combined. As I have broadcasted before, I try to sell these knick-knacks through etsy.com. Things like this.....

Problem- there are a bizillion other people selling things on etsy besides myself. And most of those have cameras that make their useless crap look a little more useful due to the clear/pure picture and pristine lighting. I'm not blaming my low sales on my camera.....completely.

Anywho, in an effort to slow down the accumulation of new accessories and do-dads in my room, I have decided to start re-fashioning things I already have. ((I actually took those pictures above with my mom's camera on her phone.....it's a better picture than my actual camera takes)) I figure I'll take things that I haven't worn in the last year and try to make them into something I'll get more use out of

Here's a documentation of my first re-fashion......I'm hopeful for lots more to come!

--A Banana Republic sweater we bought a few years ago on sale. You can see that it developed a small hole in the right shoulder. Embarassingggg!....I snapped twice, clicked my heels together, and voila (vwa-la)!!

Happy birthday momma!

Today is my momzie's birthday! Happy birthday momzie! Here's some things you maybe didn't know about my maja

1) She is 1 of 5 children
2) She's lived in Dallas her whole entire life
3) She's a tennis star. (She even went to a tournament in Las Vegas and has a fancy glass trophy to show for it)
4) She is a fahionista! My mom sells a line of clothes called CAbi (carol anderson by invitation). I think that's where my sister and I get any flare for fashion that we have
5) My mom is ALSO a dental hygienist. A woman of many talents
6) She is the craftiest lady I know. Seriously, she has the best hand writing you've ever seen, arranges flowers like a champ, decorates like it's her job, can sew with one eye shut, paints camp trunks in her sleep, embellishes wedding dresses, and best of all, she taught me everything I know
7) She never goes to sleep before 1am. She is the epitome of the term "night owl". She got stuff to do
8) She made my lunch every day from kindergarten to graduation from high school
9) My sister and I are two of the most scatter-brained fools out there and my mom was ALWAYS there in a flash with pom-poms, drill team boots, lipstick, homework, bras, shoes, dresses, costumes, hair pieces, and on...and on...andonandon
10) She's not just a regular mom- she's a cool mom. My mom was one of the only moms who would willingly take me and my friends to toilet paper a boy's house. She's always up for a sleepover. I don't believe she ever made me stay home from something......ever.
11) She's the first to follow a police car to the crime scene if we spot one.
12) Every year for winter formal she took me to Neiman Marcus downtown to get my make up done
13) I love shopping with my mom.
14) My mom likes cool things.
15) She's a sports fanatic. Unfortunately, I didn't get all those sport-loving/understanding genes form her. I do love the Mavs though (Go Mavs!)
16) She had an appendicitis the day before my sister's wedding and still made it to the bridal luncheon and everything else with not one complaint
17) She sets up the best Christmas morning you have ever seen
18) She loves fireworks more than most people I know
19) She is mine and my sister's biggest fan. If you asked her if we could do something, anything...she would say yes
19) She's probably the most selfless person I know. She's always busy doing things for other people. Always. The best part is that she enjoys it

Happy birthday to my mom. You're as good as it gets!
